Super Saturday - Part 2

Saturday turned out to be a warm sunny day. We decided to take Izzy and Sadie (our inherited dog) to an afternoon at the park. Izzy is a huge slide and swing aficionado so this was a real treat. Sadie enjoyed this change of scenery by promptly forcing me to obey the "please clean up after your pet" sign. Great start to the afternoon.

Meanwhile Izzy started the afternoon with about 30 reps of the slide. Slide down, run around to the steps, climb up, slide down, and repeat.

Tiffany and Sadie enjoying the sun.

Izzy enjoying the swings. These probably are her favorite...

... so much so that she was more than a little upset when it came time to leave.

Izzy was sad to leave...

...Sadie was glad for day out.

Super Saturday - Part 1

Izzy had her first of 8 swimming lessons on Saturday and joined the "Skips" class at our local YMCA. Week 1 was exciting excerises such as blowing into the water, kicking your feet and paddling with your arms mixed in with fun little games for the kids. Nothing says cool Dad like bobbing around a pool singing the hokey-kokey,hokey-pokey, Hokey Cokey.

** Update **
Apparently Tiffany seems to think it's the "hokey-pokey", who's right? or this just a cultural thing? Answers in the comments.

** Update 2 **
From the comments I think it's safe to say that it's a cultural thing. Therefore, as I was the one making a fool of myself I declare "Hokey Cokey" the winner!

30 minutes of swim class and Izzy was ready for her afternoon nap.

Circ-du-Cincinnati

The famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey (audio in link - you're welcome mum) came to town last week. Our friends Jeremy and Tiffany invited us to go and see it. I, being a circus newbie, was expecting a big top complete with bearded lady. Apparently they do these things in arenas these days and the ladies with facial hair are relegated to "specialist" sideshows.

Any thoughts I had about extortion of animals was quickly replaced by extortion of sucker customers like me as I ponied up ten bucks for a bag of cotton candy and a goofy hat, Izzy loved it though, which is important, I guess.

Elephants doing tricks, which is why we where there, right? This was a favorite for Isabelle.

There may be trouble ahead, Izzy and JJ were getting a little to friendly for my liking.

The hat was a hit, not so much for the cotton candy. A little to messy for Izz.

Us.

All of us.

Another Look-see

Having a friend who works it a Maternity Ward certainly has its benefits. Our good friend Pam was able to help us confirm that we were having a girl (our ultrasound tech didn't inspire a ton of confidence). The downside, she works the night shift. Last weekend she called us at 10pm saying that is was a quiet night and she could get us in for a quick peek. Fortunately Izzy had was already awake as she had got her leg stick in the crib bars for the millionth time. We all packed in the car and drove the 25 minutes to the hospital to show Isabelle her new little sister, assuming it was still a girl. A was good to get another peek at "Bubs-Two" who is still a girl. We look forward to seeing her for real.

Chuck E Cheese

We finally succumbed to the Chuck E Cheese experience this past weekend. Izzy was a big fan of the experience. The main attraction for Izzy was the assorted car rides and play area. It was surprising how quickly she got the hang of mooching a token from Dad to stick in the machines to make them go.

We, of course, preferred Izzy to play in the free play area. Isabelle's cousin Abby enjoyed exploring the various tunnels and slides with her.

At the back of place was blue screen that kids could stand in front of and see themselves on the monitor superimposed on various exciting backgrounds. Like some sort of American Idol audition she put on her best "Itsy-Bitsy-Spider" routine oblivious to everyone around her.

One happy little girl at the end of the night.
